If you live or visit Vero Beach or Sebastian or even float down the Indian River in this area chances are you’ve heard of or have been to Capt Hiram’s Key West Resort.

This is the kind of place that screams flip flops, frozen drinks, live music and fun. Jump right in on the action and grab a riverfront spot in the open-air area called The Sand Bar. Sink your toes into the sand, have some rum runners and snack on conch fritters, peel-and-eat shrimp or choose from a number of sandwiches - grilled chicken, burgers and the like. The SandBar at Capt Hiram’s Resort features an authentic lifeboat from the Sky Princess cruise ship converted into a cool table that sits shipwrecked on the beach and two full service bars, the SandBar and the Coral Bar. If that’s not your thing move to the patio deck or indoor area for some char grilled Mahi, steamed crab legs or a beer battered catch.

The name of the game is casual, island feel with live music, food and drinks. The food here is nothing to write home about and is fairly standard burger and seafood type of fare. It’s the type of place that seasoned fries and tartar sauce go a long way. It’s all about casual island-style fun and for that … go!
