What is going on with that place, wow the rumors in town about the management unbelievable. There is no consistency at all with staff and food, very sad for such a beautiful place! They have made some very poor decisions in letting some staff go and keeping others….will they ever get it right?!!??
We are dedicated Dockside patrons! I asked for Appleton rum once which they did not carry and the next visit they had it! The food has been excellent every time we have dined there. They carry fresh fish like Cobia and Pompano at reasonable prices. The service has been supurb every time we have visited and you can’t beat the atmosphere. What a great addition to Vero’s dining options.
Service is average. By average, I mean what you would expect for the prices you pay. The food on the other hand can only be described as inconsistent. A group of us have eaten here on three different occasions and some of the food is good and some is awful. Nothing is great. We will not go back for food, ever. But, maybe for drinks if the situation was right.
Mom and I was visiting with my Aunt Kay and my Aunt Bonnie in Vero Beach this week (June 2009) and they suggested we go to the DOCKSIDE GRILLE for lunch. We had been everywhere else in Vero but never there.WELL…. I LOVED IT !!! I had the CRISPY SALMON SALAD and was pleasantly surprised by the delicate crispy coating on the perfectly done 3 salmon pieces that graced my delicious salad.Aunt Kay had CORNED BEEF on RYE with a side of Potato salad. The meat was beautifully lean and the potato salad was a flavorful mixture that included egg bits… very yummy.Aunt Bonnie had the hamburger (8 Oz) and fries. This is one VERY JUICY and perfectly cooked to order burger (not the usual casual dining fare).Mom was the happiest of all because her order of breaded and fried GROUPER was as crispy as she oredered it and as tender as could be inside !! Mom had the Sweet Potato Fries and was like a kid with candy. Our waitress suggested the BLUEBERRY BREAD PUDDING for dessert and we added a scoop of ICE CREAM for good measure. The Bread Pudding was to die for…I mean we scraped the plate of every last bit of cream sauce. The BREAD PUDDING IS A MUST FOR DESSERT !! We had one bar drink and three waters and this entire four person meal with dessert and a scotch was only $66.DOCKSIDE GRILLE IS A MUST HAVE LUNCH DATE.
The service is lousy! They take forever on a non busy night and the waiter who was our waiter both times is arrogant! The food was about an 8 out of 10. wish the staff was more friendly and quick on getting our drinks.
The Dockside Grille in Vero beach was way below our expectations. We were seated in the room to the right of the entrance. There were 5 obnoxious, loud drunks yelling obsenities. The management kept serving them drinks. When we asked our waiter if they could do something to keep the noise down, the response was “well its a bar ya know”. Those people were way to drunk to drive but they kept serving them anyway…. I digress… after we were seated it was 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order… Service was very slow. We ordered appetizers (flat Bread ..very good) and salads (wedge very good) and entree (Rib eye steak very good)… They brought everything at once. By the time I got to my entre it was cold, but even so it was tasty. The bill for 4 people with wine and drinks was 185 before tip. I should have ordered a burger. It was that kind of place. Even though the food was very good, it did not make up for the poor service and terrible ambiemce. We were expecting “Ellies type place like before. Not even close. It was more like Beef O’Gradys….Price way to high for what was received. I would consider it for lunch. Might not be too bad. But a high end place it is not!!!!! Bobbies on the Beach is far better and a heck of a lot cheaper.
First time to Dockside Grille and my husband and I loved it. You walk in to this beautiful atmosphere, a little noisy (but it was a Friday night.) The hostess sat us over to the left when you walk in, near the bar. She was very cute and friendly. Our waitress was a doll, and the food was even better. We ordered scallops as an appetizer and they almost melt in your mouth. My husband got a steak and I got the special, which was Dolphin. It was all very good and made to order. We really enjoyed the service and the food was great, we plan on coming back very soon and even bringing some friends along with us next time.
I meant to put stars on the last one. opps
