I was home for a visit last weekend and went to a new place called Joey’s and it was fantastic! It took over the old 3 Avenues place and what a difference they made. The food was fantastic, the service was fun and entertaining and we got to watch the playoffs on the biggest screen tv I’ve ever seen in Vero Beach! Best Calamari hands down and the brick oven pizza was delicious! I’m looking forward to my next visit as I hear they’re the new hot spot for dancing. My new favorite place to go when in town!

I went to Joey’s Bistro on 2/26/2010 with 4 others. The restaurant was less than 1/2 full but it still took our waitress over 5 minutes to approach our table. She brought steamy garlic rolls and said that they didn’t have any bread plates available but would bring when some were washed. 15 minutes later when asked, she said they still had only four. We said we would share but she was gone before hearing us. Around the 35-40 minute mark we got our plates but the now cold rolls weren’t very appetizing. She was right about the plates because when she delivered the house soup, it wasn’t on a plate either. With one hand, the waitress reached across the table and put the bowl of soup on the table with her thumb in it. (Her Thumb!) There was no worry about her burning her hand because it too was cold. The consistent thing about Joey’s Bistro is that everything ordered was served ice cold including our dinners when they finally arrived after a lengthy wait. By now, all our drink glasses were empty and they were never refilled. I looked but never saw a manager in the two hours I was there. We never saw our waitress again either until we grabbed her for a check. We had no coffee or dessert and it still took 2 hours. We just wanted to leave. The food was cold and the service was horrible. It seems to me that since no manager was visible to oversee food quality or customer service that Joey’s Bistro won’t be here for long. I called the restaurant and left a message for a manager to call but my call was never returned. As I said, Joey’s won’t be here for long, thankfully

Prices are great, Happy Hour even better! Food was good, plenty of salad, garlic rolls good, could be better, but then would have to charge more, going back for the $12.99 Lobsters on Sunday..Service was young and could have had better staff with all the people out of work, but worth the try again..Wood burning oven pizza’s looked great, will try that next time..

What! Really?

Hushpuppies are pieces of fried cornmeal batter which are a great southern tradition. Years ago, pieces of the fried batter were fed to hungry dogs that begged for food. After the scraps were given to the dogs, the owner would say “Now hush, puppy.”
