Monte’s Restaurant, a long time established restaurant serving the community in Vero Beach, closes it’s doors.
At one time Monte’s was one of the better restaurants in the area that served traditional Italian fare. Owned and operated for more than 15 years by the Piemonte family, the restaurant was a staple to the vero community. With over 1000 selections on their wine list, they easily showcased the largest and best wine list in the area. No one even came close.
A few short years ago the restaurant sold to an investment group/partners that took over operations of Monte’s and the adjacent restaurant The Menu. Monte’s essentially stayed with a similar format and The Menu Restaurant changed to Rips - the Place for Ribs. Both seemed to struggle after the transition and Monte’ never seemed to be quite the same.
Now there is a “closed” sign hanging on both doors and it looks to be like the show is over.
Verobeachrestaurant.com owner comments:
“Monte’s was always a fun place to dine and enjoy some great wine. If I stayed late enough, the previous owner would finish his chef duties and come out of the kitchen with a great bottle of wine from his secret stash. We would try this and that, talk wine and have a great time. That was something that was missing after the transition. Great restaurants succeed with strong personalities with a flair for hospitality and a love of the game. Old school cool.”
Rumor is that it is possible that the latest new owners will open the Rips restaurant under a different name but the future is uncertain.
Guess we’ll wait and see.
We are always sorry to lose any restaurants in our town. But we thank you for all the years of fun and memories and tip our glass to the effort, struggle and commitment of owners past and present we wish you the best.
Cheers!
